On another note - today was my formal observation.
No sweat.
Really.
I'm not one of those who freaks out when it comes to observations. In fact, I almost forgot about it today. lol
I don't scurry around to get my plan book in check, or plan a lesson that is "extra-ordinary." I just teach how I teach and that's what I want them to see. Besides, if I try to teach something out of the norm, then the kids will show it in their behavior, and that'll make it worse.
My lesson was in math...and wouldn't you know it?? We were doing my Jack and Jill Rounding - which the kids LOVE. And then we busted out into centers - she didn't care so much about what my kids were doing in centers as much as she did what I was doing in small groups - so, we'll see what she has to say.
Hopefully, it's all good! This is our new AP that came a week before my maternity leave, so I really haven't gotten to know her...though I've gotten a good impression of her already. Let's hope it's mutual =)
One more thing -
Go check out the giveaway I'm part of - it's in celebration of Holly's new look!! She looks great by the way :)
Ok, I have to go finish my Bear Snores On unit that I need for next week!
Hope y'all had a Tremendous Thursday!

I came over because I was entering the giveaway and verified what I thought, I'm already following your blog. But I haven't visited for a while, so I'm glad I hopped over. I love your blog design and the pics of your Jack and Jill unit look so cute, of course I'm going to have to go and check them out! Take it easy and don't worry about your observation. Your havin' a baby :)

Hey Jen,
I feel the same way about observations. In fact, although I realize they are supposed to be "formal", I wish they would just show up when they show up and not make an issue about it. I don't stress about it or plan anything different. You're right, when you change, so do the kids and everything gets thrown off.

I came over because I am entering a give away. But I am glad that I did. I am homeschooling my nearly 4 yr daughter and I am always looking for ideas. She reads at a first grade level and does math at a k or 1st grade level depending on the concept. Anyway-just wanted to say keep up the great look
I feel the same way about observations. This year everything has changed about our evaluation system and it has got everyone in a tizzy. I do what I do and try not to get too upset about it all. It annoys me when people put on a dog and pony show. I thought I was following you already but it took the giveaway for me to see that I wasn't. Love your ideas!
